Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity within our business for an assistant accountant. The assistant accountant will be an integral member of the finance team and will support the Financial Controller in maintaining the overall integrity of the general ledger with a focus around key balance-sheet accounts.

We are looking for someone with a varied skill set who likes a challenge in a fast-paced environment. The right candidate will demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills. You will also possess a good eye for detail and an inquisitive mindset.

Responsibilities include (but not limited to):


  • Preparing the monthly accounts for our branches, along with the year-end account information.

  • Handling and preparing the UK and EU VAT account returns, payments and reconciliation.

  • Entering our supplier invoices into the accounting system, querying any inaccuracies and getting them quickly resolved.

  • Thinking about cost recognition methods like prepayments and accruals.

  • Processing expenses, arranging payment runs.

  • Reconciliation of our bank account and credit cards.

  • Looking for ways to enhance our accounting system and ways of working.

  • Ordering office supplies and renewing our contracts with key suppliers like utilities and telecoms companies.

  • Other administrative tasks as required.



  • Highly proficient in using Microsoft Excel (including use of lookups and pivot tables).

  • A confident and organised professional with excellent spoken and written English.

  • Desire/plans to work towards an accounting qualification.

  • Able to manage full workload and competing deadlines/priorities.

  • Well versed in using accounting software packages (Netsuite preferred).

  • Team orientated, flexible and able to work effectively under own initiative.
