About the job:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Business Data Analyst to join our growing team and play a key role in driving data-driven decision-making, in challenging the teams to optimize the different lines of business and in validating the best growth strategies. You will be tasked with supporting our top-level decisions based on data. We expect you to perform data preparation and activities designed to support BI, with the intent to identify specific information required to support the business, present these results in a meaningful and intuitive format, and challenge the management team to improve performance. 


Responsibilities:

Data Analysis and Interpretation

  • Lead the analysis of large datasets to extract actionable insights and trends.

  • Translate complex data findings into understandable and compelling narratives for stakeholders.

Business Intelligence

  • Develop and maintain robust business intelligence dashboards and reports for key stakeholders.

  • Provide strategic recommendations based on data analysis to support business objectives.

Data Modelling and Forecasting

  • Design and implement advanced statistical models to forecast business trends and outcomes.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop data-driven strategies for growth and efficiency.

Data Quality and Governance

  • Establish and maintain data quality standards and ensure the integrity of data across the organization.

  • Work closely with Product teams to optimize data storage, retrieval, and processing capabilities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with departments such as Marketing, Finance, and Operations to understand their data needs and provide actionable insights.

  • Act as a liaison between technical and non-technical teams to ensure effective communication and understanding of data-related requirements.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data analysis.

  • Proactively identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within the data analysis workflow.

Team Leadership and Mentorship

  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior data analysts within the team.

  • Foster a collaborative and innovative environment that encourages knowledge sharing and professional development.


Your typical day will look like:

  • Work with different stakeholders to identify KPIs and gather business requirements for reporting;

  • Create design deliverables for new reports and dashboards;

  • Test reports to ensure optimal user experience and data quality;

  • Investigate and solve data discrepancies and inconsistencies and assist in addressing the cause;

  • Create and modify dashboards and reports using BI tools based on project requirements;

  • Build queries to answer ad-hoc questions, but also complete ad-hoc requests independently while verifying data and working with other departments;

  • Focus on understanding the relationships within the data, and the business’s key performance indicators.

Job requirements

Experience & Education:

  • At least 3 years of proven experience;
  • Related educational background;

  • Demonstrable and strong problem-solving skills;

  • Creative and critical thinking skills;

  • Hands-on, do-er mindset;

  • Results-driven and high levels of grit;

  • Fluent in English.

Preferred Tools knowledge:

  • Top Excel or Google Sheets skills;
  • Experience in Tableau and SQL is a must;
  • Knowledge of a BI tool;
  • Experience with data analysis on Python or R is a plus;
  • Knowledge of data warehousing concepts would be good to have.

What else do you need to know?

  • This is a remote-based role in Portugal, but we offer the possibility to work at the office!
  • You must be available to work 40 hours a week.
