Software Engineer (Front-end)

Job description

This Role:

We expect you enjoy moving up and down the stack, developing new features and making improvements to delight our customers. You are as comfortable using modern Frontend frameworks.

Our Team:
We’re a technology based startup and we depend on our online platform to provide the best possible service to students and landlords. This is where the tech team comes in and why it is core to Uniplaces. The team works very tightly with Product and Product Design and operational product roadmap decisions are taken with everyone’s input - whether you’re playing with code, data, scripts or infrastructure you’ll collaborate with the wider team. We code in Ember, React, Golang and PHP, which we then deploy using docker containers. All of our infrastructure is on AWS and we do several releases to production per day.

Requirements

Your qualities:

We are looking for a Front-End Web Developer who is motivated to combine the art of design with the art of programming. Responsibilities will include translation of the UI/UX design wireframes to actual code that will produce visual elements of the application. You will work in a cross-functional team with a Product Manager, Product Designer and backend and frontend engineers. You will help in bridging the gap between graphical design and technical implementation, taking an active role on both sides and defining how the application looks as well as how it works.

Experience with micro services and mobile web development are also extremely useful for this role. You should enjoy learning new frameworks and tools as we are constantly improving and enhancing our tech stack.

You are as comfortable using modern Frontend frameworks, like React, Vue.js or Ember.

We value how you think and solve problems more than your current specific set of skills. At the core of our selection criteria are devotion and pride in what you do. However, an essential requirement for working in our team is experience of, and an interest in, Agile software development methods.

You need to be driven and really enjoy what you do. Finally, you need to be able to work well with others and build good relationships built on mutual trust and openness. This means you also need to speak English.

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary;
  • Flexible working hours;
  • Macbook pro and headphones;
  • Great culture and friendly environment;
  • Free fruit and coffee;
  • Training, conferences and workshops;
  • Fun and modern office in Lisbon city centre, one of the coolest up and coming start-up hubs in Europe, where the sun always shines and the seafood is delicious.

For this position, we do not sponsor working visas, but we offer a relocation package in case you are not in Portugal.
