UI/UX designer

Job description

This Role:

We are looking for a UI/UX Designer who understands that design is not just how things look, but how they work. You will work closely with product managers and developers to help solve usability and design problems and convert business needs into simple and engaging product experiences.

You will be responsible for Uniplaces website user experience and design. You should have experience working on all aspects of the UX process: from defining user needs, developing concepts, testing designs, to reviewing implemented designs and ensure pixel-perfect implementation with the dev team.

Our Team:
We’re a technology based startup and we depend on our online platform to provide the best possible service to students and landlords. This is where this role comes in and why it is core to Uniplaces. The UI/UX Designer works very tightly with the product managers and the development teams and operational product roadmap decisions are taken with everyone’s input.

Requirements

Your qualities:

You have a deep understanding of lean UI/UX practices and processes, including user-centered design and research. You should aim for “done” rather than “perfect” and you understand the power of team collaboration and iteration, and are open to accepting, acting on, and giving constructive criticism. You should be familiar with agile environments working on a multidisciplinary team.

We value how you think and solve problems more than your current specific set of skills. At the core of our selection criteria are devotion and pride in what you do. We are, however, especially interested in candidates that have experience of designing for mobile platforms.

To thrive in our environment, you should be able to work independently and take responsibility for your work. You need to be driven and really enjoy what you do. Finally, you need to be able to work well with others and build good relationships built on mutual trust and openness. This means you also need to speak English.

What we offer:

  • Competitive salary
  • Flexible working hours
  • Great team-mates and a friendly international office
  • Free fruit, coffee etc.
  • Fun and modern offices in Lisbon city centre, one of the coolest up and coming start-up hubs in Europe, where the sun always shines and the seafood is delicious.

For this position, we do not sponsor working visas, but we offer a relocation package in case you are not in Portugal.

Something about us:
Uniplaces is building a trusted, global brand for students. We believe in empowering student mobility and we have started by making the process of finding accommodation easier. We’re solving real life pains and we’re backed by top tier investors such as Atomico, Octopus Investments, Shilling Capital Partners and Caixa Capital to help us achieve this better and faster.

We are an internationally minded company with an extremely talented team and global ambitions. Our decisions are driven by our core values of Passion, Impact, Trust and Team Spirit - with which we aim at having a company where everyone feels accountable and empowered to achieve their full potential.
